Hi--this may not be shade-related, but--has anybody grown the so called
hardy gladiolus from Dutch Gardens, etc.? Specifically, have you wintered
them over successfully, and if so what zone are you? A friend of mine
bought 10 of these, CV name is 'Atom', for 4.50 or thereabouts. She
brought me a flower scape, LOADED with beautiful little orchid-like fls.
Vermillion red with a white edge. They have other CVs too. The fls are
much prettier and more graceful (to me) than regular glads. As I said it
reminded me of a spray of orchids. Very charming and even if not winter
hardy, inexpensive.
