Hi Gene,

Caryopteris survives in zone 4. It needs well drained soil over the winter,
I heap soil or compost over the crown of the shrub. Still, I seldom lose the
stems. We cut it back each spring and it blooms here very late in the
summer. Sometimes it is nipped by the frost. In my garden, it is in full
sun. This year July is soooooooooooo hot. Ours is the old Longwood Blue.
Gene, this strikes from cuttings easily.
