I believe the columbine you have is the native columbine and it means to
live. Just cut the stalks off upside down in a paper bag and then most
of the seeds will be available to others that want the red and orange
native plant. At least you will not have as many plants. I did too
well last year and only have a few plants so I will have to spread the
joy around before disposing of the seeds. But then the dark purple one
is a darling but only in the sun and no mulch so I have to be very
careful to sow the seeds for next year. They are short lived at best
but still give color to the garden that is needed now.
