Re: [SG] cimicifuga

Roberta,

When do your various C. ramosa bloom? What do the flowers smell like? If
they bloom in Oct and smell like grape Koolaid, that is the true C.
ramosa. Gene and Clyde, I think some confusion may result from the fact
that one is C. racemosa and one C. ramosa. At least, that's my
understanding. Again, I haven't grown it but I believe the ordinary Black
Snakeroot--C. racemosa--blooms earlier, July-August. As I said, my C.
ramosa has never bloomed, but the ones I have seen in bloom looked pretty
much the same as C. racemosa, but with this grape Koolaid smell. I THINK
the stems may be red on ramosa, also. And as I recall, ramosa is a smaller
plant. Your other plants may indeed be something else. Goatsbeard seems
like a good guess. Or maybe meadowsweet? Somebody, help!
