Re: [SG] Welcome

Hi-
I live in MA and have been renovating my garden after years of not being
able to do so due to a back injury suffered in a car accident. One day I
was looking at some old hostas I've had for about 20 years and I decided to
get back into gardening bigtime.
I have planted about 120 varieties of hostas in the past three years. They
are my favorites. I can hardly wait 'til they mature and must say that they
are doing rather well.
I'm having some slug damage, but have a few toads to help out. One is a
resident of a planter box. I've placed a piece of slate over one end of it
and he comes and goes and has been doing so for about 2 months. He is
really cute.
I have 4 dogs, so don't want to use slug bait. Have been wondering about
diatomaceous earth or spraying with ammonia. Any suggestions? <G>
I am in the process of planting daylillies, coneflowers, lavender and thyme
along with decorative grasses in a sunny portion of the yard also.
I have planted ferns, lamium, cranesbills, gingers, peonies, columbines,
Bishop's weed and sweet woodruff, but plan on adding more varieties of
groundcover.
It has been so rainy and humid in New England that I haven't had to water
for some time. Last summer was so dry-what a difference!
I have a husband named Steve who teaches 8th grade Language Arts and US
History.I teach kindergarten and have for the past 28 years. Also love
photography and my computer!
Would be interested in hearing more about shade-loving daylillies as I love
them, too.
Thanks for the welcome to the list! Hope to learn and enjoy.
