Re: [SG] Pulmonarias

Marge,
I have noticed the slowdown, too. Also, the reason I haven't tried cutting
them back is because I know that if I'm patient and ignore the ratty stage,
they do look good eventually. I was thinking of cutting them back for two
reasons (but not this year, I think it would be too late): one to prevent
further seeding, and to avoid the ratty look (the early leaves seem to get a
lot of holes that the later leaves don't). Thanks for the input.

Have noticed that they will commence a new leafing out around July whether
cut back or not and think they are among the early bloomers who have a sort
of semi-dormant phase after they bloom and then put on a new growth spurt -
Aquilegia are another that do this and whom I regularly whack back to the
crown after they go to seed because of ratty foliage, etc. Brunnera will
also leaf out again if cut back hard after bloom, but you won't get quite
as huge leaves for the rest of the season.
