Christine-
I'm sorry - I just reread your post - you WERE talking about the "common"
elephant ears weren't you? I had just done a post yesterday regarding the
'black magic' and I guess my brain was on pause...that seems to happen alot
with me. :o)
If you do find that these go dormant in the winter--not to worry, they will
grow very quickly for you in the Summer or late Spring when the weather
warms. I have some from a ditch at Lake Kissimmee (from property my
pop-n-law owns) and they are HUGE!!! They tower over my height of 5'6" and
act as a canopy over a walk I have between the greenhouse and fence. The
leaves are a good 4' long a piece. Just AWSOME!!
I know some people think these are "out of fashion" in the gardening world,
but in my humble opinion, they are of a style that never really goes
away....sorta like pumps in the fashion world.
Again - if they go dormant (even inside) during the winter just keep them dry
and they will return in all of their glory in the Summer.
Happy Gardening
