Re: peat moss


The best way is to premoisten the peat before mixing into the soil.  If you
use a lot of peat in a well aerated soil like you would use for
Rhododendrons it could a year to moisten, by then all of the Rhododendron
roots have died. It's best to have your open bale of peat moss exposed to
rain for several months before using it.  I have done this for my bog and
leaving them exposes all winter works or if in the summer periodically
pouring buckets of rainwater or RO water into the bale.  Even putting peat
into a garbage can with water takes forever.
