Thank you for the warm welcome. My husband and I bought an old house 16 years
ago, whose previous 80 yr old owner was an avid gardener. Our one acre lot (
one half shade) was full of mature oaks, maples, ash, lilacs, and many
wildflowers, both shade and sunloving. We live in Northwest Ohio, U.S.A., zone
5. Our winters our a challenge because of temp. fluctuations and lack of snow
cover many years and our summers are hot and humid. However we are blessed
with very good, rich soil, and never have a problem with water.
I have rearranged things to suit my tastes, and have added many plants over
the years. I am fortunate to have a hubby who cares not what I do to our yard.
His one rule: no trees over the septic system.
I love all flowers, but really lean towards the shade plants. I also enjoy
experimenting with sun plants, testing how well they do in the shade.
I enjoy visiting other gardens, both public and private, and one of my
greatest joys is giving garden tours. I have met so many nice people this way.
I look forward to the list and learning from all of you.
