Re: [SHADEGARDENS] New Member
Sherryl,
Charles, I'm hoping some folks on our robin will have answers to your
questions. I know we have primrose experts! I love the balloon flower,
too...I have them among the hostas as a companion plant. This plant adds
a
touch of "magic", I think.

Okay I will post soon.
Yes, plant costs certainly do add up in a hurry! I know many sources for
beautiful daylilies for $5 and under! Older varieties, yet perform just
as
well and just as lovely as the newest ones. JOAN SENIOR (Durio '77) is
just
about the whitest white you can find, and a double fan is in this price
range. This one is the most dependable bloomers I have....with large 6"
blooms.

Yes my bill ran up to $75.00 I ordered from Park Seeds the main reason I
ordered from Park Seed is because they sell plants that are more suitable
for our area zone 8a
Another favorite semishade flower of mine is the gardenia. I find the
gardenia very easy to root I live in southeast NC. I did however manage
to take some of the suckers off the daylilies that I had and only one
daylily was produced from that. Oh the reason I paid so much for the
Black Eye Stella was because that one is hard to find. one source I
contaced advised me that if you pay less for the Black Eyed Stella
chances are you did'nt get the original plant.
Can you give me some addresses for daylily resalers? I they have a 800#
let me have that info to. I also have azalea's and boxwoods I will have
20 to 30 azalea's and about 30 boxwoods to transplant later this coming
spring we have mild winters so that helps I use the layering method on my
boxwoods and azalea's because I can't root them by cuttings. I notice
that my dogs don't try to dig up my daylilies is there something about
the daylily that the dogs don't like?
Charles
