Hi All;
Also in New York with 85 degrees...Scillas blooming with Pulmonaria
'Mrs.Moon' and saw the first buds of bearded Iris 'Rose Violet' today.
Will be a little cooler (50-60) this weekend but I'm not too worried.
Regarding the kids issue...I have two kids ages almost 7 and almost 4...I
was getting kind of annoyed at the little one for spraying the hose so
hard at the seedlings until I asked him to lay down on the grass with me
and take a really good look at the "babies' he was helping to feed. This
new perspective showed him how delicate this new life was and I didn't
have to remind him again after that. I know this won't work with every
kid, but I always try honey over vinegar whenever I can. I've also found
that edging with strawberries keeps them out of the beds because if they
squash those, there's no berries to pick in the summer.
Thalictrum rochebrunanium 'Lavender Mist' is carried in the Shady Oaks
Nursery catalog 800-504-8006 at $5.39 for one plant, cheaper for more but
self sows readily. Their catalog is a nice reference guide for shade
plants, reasonable shipping costs.
Does anyone have alot of experience growing Aquilegia from seed? Jaime
(thank you again) was kind enough to send me some and I can't remember if
they are to be refrigerated first for best results or just set out in the
soil.
Also, for Clyde - sorry if you never got that second send of my note...my
servers been having problems since the weekend so if you did get it,
could you drop a note? TY
