Frances, my hostas are in the ground not sprouting yet and we will have
more cold weather before summer. Perhaps your container heated up
prematurely, causing your hostas to sprout. I think they can take some
frosts, but you were probably right to take them inside. If you're going to
plant them in the ground, perhaps you should wait until all danger of frost
is past. Margaret
