wild ginger (asarum) problem

  A few colonies of wild ginger have started to develop a problem that has not appeared before. The plants lose their vigor and seem to shrink and something akin to withering. Other gingers nearby usually grow normally but in a couple of cases the symptoms have appeared on just a few plants on the edge of a colony. For lack of anything better to do, I have been digging up and destroying the affected plants. Does anyone have an answer as to what the problem is? Solutions?
