Sue,
A lot of people around here have complained of cutworm attacks, also in my
garden the thing that will get them early in those tender centers is
caterpillars. If you have Mark Zilis's new book, he has a section that shows
the damage and tells what critter is causing it. You will at least know what
you are fighting.
