Re: [SG] Lysimachia ciliata purpurea

That lysimachia is the one Rams and I bought today and split. It has little
yellow flowers which I am advised I may wish to cut off. It is supposed to
be
a bushy clump of maroon foliage looking good with the artemesias. Our tag
says it is a wetland plant.

Hi Claire and Clyde and everyone else,

I just bought this plant today...I love the folliage. I was told it spreads
quickly as all Lysimachias do, especially if the soil is moist. Has anyone
tried growing this plant in a bottomless container? Is this a good idea or do
you think it's not that aggressive?

Another question about this plant. When I saw it on a garden tour last year,
I was struck by the subtle but beautiful color variation of the folliage. It
wasn't a uniform maroon-purple color. The person that sold it to me said that
maybe this happens when it's not grown in full sun. I'm going to split my
plant in two and grow it in 2 locations, one that gets mostly full sun and the
other that is part shade so I can compare the color. Has anyone noticed a
difference in the folliage color like this?

Thanks,
Cindy Johnson
