Hi Shady gardeners,
I'm trying to pick out a shrub (I think deciduous) to fill in an area on the
North of our house. We're zone 4a but this area is exposed to the evil blasts
of wind and cold that sweep across a lake and it has no protection - so I
think a zone 3 hardy shrub would be preferred.
The corner the shrub will be planted in is 6' x 6' and the flat roof above
must be 20 feet high. Winter interest would be from far away. Spring, summer
and fall it would be a background for hosta and companion plantings.
I plan to plant evergreens to view out of every window in the house and this
area isn't viewed from inside the house so this area would be a chance to
plant an interesting deciduous something in a foundation planting.
Any favorites?
Jackie
