Sheila, the heck with naysayers on bamboo, even the runners (as
opposed to the clumpers). Phyllostachys nigra is on my "drool
list" <VBG> but is awfully pricey. I keep scanning for someone
with a stand of it around here to no avail. (I figure if I
offered to help cut the runners back, I could probably get them
to part with a few.) Oh those black canes are soooooo gorgeous.
I hope you enjoy it. A magnificent plant not that difficult to
contain if you plan ahead & keep up with it.
