Barbara Jones in MA says plant with half on top of the ground.

If this is true, since we here in IN are somewhere in between I would
conjecture that we should plant our rhizomes so that a little more than
half is out of the ground. Does this make horticultural senses?

When I sell tall bearded Iris locally I recommend planting them so that the
rhizome is just covered with dirt-this has worked very well for me when I
plant them in the ground or in a one gallon pot in late summer for spring
sales.
