        you sure are right about the Omphalodes being great plants... I use mine
as ground covers between Hellebores and with the variegated Solomon's Seal
which emerges in wine red spears. Goes great with the blue flowers with
white eyes of the "Creeping Forget Me Not" as the species O. verna is known
locally.
        Easy plants to establish and grow. They perform best with a decent organic
soil but will take less. A somewhat loose soil in texture and a decent
mulch gives the runners someplace to root quickly forming mats. The more
moisture you give verna without watterlogging the better it will perform
forming large sheets of thick dark green textured leaves.
        O. cappadocia is just as easy and a bit larger plant height - wise in my
garden. There are now several selections coming on to the market over the
past few years due to tissue culture. One just has to keep an eye on the
catalogs.
