Thanks Gene,
Very interesting, about the holding area. I seem to be in the market nearly
every week and sometimes twice during the season, always on the lookout for
new plants, and I buy a lot, figuring I will use it somehow. (sometimes 20
at a time) I do like to test plants here and boy, sometimes, they are
really different from what is expected! Like you, I like to see what is
going to become of them, BEFORE using them. Funny though that my garden is
never looking as good as my clients!!! Too little time...
Since my main collection is daylilies (yes, I have sun gardens too!) I
always plant the new acquisitions in row gardens and check them out before
trying to use them in the planned gardens. BTW, the fulva was the daylily
fulva.
But it seems like my likes are way beyond daylilies and plans and if I see
something, I just have to try it! Texture plants seem to be catching my eye
at the moment. Of course lists like this, and lectures always presents us
with a list of things to try to get ahold of! if only I had more land!!!!
I asked because as I was looking for things for a new little area, I
realized that I plan more things for 'other' people then I do for myself,
and my gardens, I guess, look like that <BG>....I call it 'the cottage
garden look', to excuse the overplanted, over indulged hodge podge!!!!
I admire a well thought out garden though.
