In my experience, Roundup doesn't EVER kill things. A misguided helper
last year mistakenly sprayed my perennial border with it, and even my
cherished perennials were not killed. They just looked a bit sick for a
couple days. As for plantain, dandelions, goutweed, Star of Bethlehem, and
of course violets-- forgeddit. Perhaps repeated applications over a period
of time, if one had the patience for it--like every 24 hours for a
week--would be successful.
IMHO, there is no substitute for hand weeding, and it's a great stress
reliever too.
