Hello Bobbie,
        I have tried and had limited success with Daphnes. I usually end up
loosing them after two to three years. Far too expensive to keep that up
for long. I gave up on them until I can find more clear information out
there somewhere. So much of what I have read is conflicting information.
        What I have read on the Alpine list and their conversations on Daphnes is
they cut them back... hard. The specific cultivar Carol Macke I can not
reply on.
        No advice here, just relating information.
