Re: roses by mail

Oddly enough, Bobbi, Roses of Yesterday and Today is where I got my
two Rugosas many years ago. I did not list them as I know there was
a change of hands or something in the interim and some talk about
viruses in the stock - some time ago that was, so may have been
corrected by now - and I just didn't know what quality of plant they
are shipping now. The ones I got from them - oh, this is back in the
early 80s - were large bare root plants. I still have 'Belle
Poitevine' growing away; lost my 'Blanc Double de Coubert' a year or
so ago, but it grew fine until then; stem rotted and it must have
been grafted as some other type of rose has taken over from the roots
and needs to be dug out now as I don't think it is going to be
something I want.  Also had gotten the autumn damask rose from them;
deer got that one, but I enjoyed the lovely scent for about 12 years
or so before the feast.

So, the long and short of it is that I was well satisfied, but don't
know how they are currently regarded.
