hello Juanita,
You may want to give thought to a small shrub of about three feet called
the Summersweet. Look for Clethra alnifolia 'Hummingbird'. whiter blooms on
excellent foliage in late summer. Sweetly and spicy scented. You may also
want to look into the dwarf Rhodies and Azaleas. There are many to choose
from. Also dwarf Mountain Laurels are beautiful. If you prefer a more
formal look you may want to try some of the shade tolerant conifers such as
the Hemlocks.
