Bobbi,

I have never seen a seedling in zone 4.  In fact, in this colder zone it is
very hard to establish this clematis.  A small one growing here is just now
forming flower buds and will probably be killed off by a frost before it
blooms.  Just a zone or two warmer than us will grow many things that we find
marginal.
