scree gardening

I guess I have somewhat of a scree garden on the side of my garage. When we
bought the house ten or so years ago, there was a lot of gravel in the area
where once had been a swimming pool. My husband dug all that gravelly soil
out and piled it on the far side of the garage. I have a Judd viburnum
there, along with three Anthony Waterer spireas, mums and sedum. The only
thing I noticed were that the shrubs, the viburnmum in particular, needed
more water until they were established. They are all doing fine, in spite of
the fact that it's hard to get a hose out there. Lynn
