Hymenocallis

We have been carrying on a fragmented discussion of Hymenocallis across at
least three lists. The genus is probably off-topic for most of them.
Perhaps we could move it all to:
Bulbs@onelist.com
which is the IBS open forum for bulb enthusiasts.

Hymenocallis are very distinct from Lycoris, which latter genus is Asian --
China and Japan. Lycoris is an under-utilized genus and has more to offer
than just L. squamigera and L. radiata.

Hymenocallis has bog and marsh species and in addition has numerous species
from the deserts of Mexico. Few are frost hardy, but then few have been
tested for cold hardiness either.

Both these are large topics and perhaps best handled in a bulb forum,
rather than shade garden and alpine forums. I would not want to annoy any
list owners!
