Hello Kim,
to give you advice there is no sufficient data you have given. It is
very important to know summer temperatures and winter stage: is it
soil frozen or not. In which zone you live? Mostly siberians like
semiclay, but with good aeration soil. In constantly moist clay when
summer temperatures is high and not sufficient soil aeration they can
be lost by botrytis disease. To prevent this clay soil can be
improved with sand and peat. It is good mechanical mean: with spade
mellow soil around clump without afraid to break roots. When some of
them are cut they grow branched new ones and this help for better
performance. In winter there is best frozen soil for siberians.
