As the new president of SSI i feel that we are really hurting as a
society because we do not have anyone in charge of publicity or with
an in to the AIS powers that be to get us much coverage in the AIS
bulletins. For a start we need someone willing to browse regional,
local and international newsletters for interesting tidbits to feed
to AIS and to SSI for that matter.

If you think this isn't important - look what prominence the Median
Society has acheived - putting out a spectacular 50th Anniversary
magazine, creating the Ben Hager Cup for AIS Conventions - a special
article on medians in the current AIS Bulletin in addition to
excellent coverage in the garden writeups. ( The only mention of sibs
that I found in the July Bulletin is one line on page 76 )!!!

Excitement breeds excitement and we really need to generate some.
Despite many overtures we still do not have anyone willing to take on
the job of editor of SSI. We really need to get moving - we have
started with an upgrading of our website.

So if I haven't contacted you about either the publicity or editor's
job - please don't take it personally - I probably didn't know you
were available - contact me ASAP.

Also sibrob is an excellent forum for a discussion of goals for SSI
-pleeeeeeeeeeeeease give it some thought and let's get talking.
