Hi Jim,
Spuria seeds can be treated just like Siberian seeds. They need soaking and
a good chill to germinate properly.
Either plant in a seedling bed prior to winter setting in (I don't worry
about keeping them moist before planting BTW.) or go the indoor route. Even
simpler than it sounds.... I pop the seeds into a piece of nylon stocking
and weigh it down with a small rock. Slip it into a tall jar and fill with
lukewarm water that gets changed every day for about a week to a month..
till the seeds look plump. Once they're soaked, just put nylon and all into
a ziplock and let them chill in the coldest part of the frig for a month
(no shortcut here). You can plant the seeds into starter trays or directly
in the garden (after removing the nylon of course.) :)
