Hi-
I'm a new member to SIBROB, but have belonged to AIS and the Siberian Iris
Society for several years. I just got on the Net at home, so I joined .
I live in Camillus N.Y. a suburb of Syracuse and grow about 80+ different
hybrids of Siberian Iris. Bob Hollingsworth showed me how to do crosses and
germinate after the Detroit Ais Convention, which started me to do some
limited hybridizing. I also grow a large number of species, species crosses
from SIGNA seed, some spuria, a large number of all types of bearded iris,
lots of versicolor and setosa, some Japs; but my favoite is siberian iris. I
grow all the Morgan award medal winners from Tycoon to Roaring Jelly.
Most of my plants are 5 to 6 years old, and I have lost only a few to borers
once established after a fall planting. My best plants always are those I can
received in pots. My best growers and favorites are McGarvey hybrids, or Anna
Mae Miller and Borglum introductions crossed from McGarvey plants. My
favorites are Aqua Whisper and Temper Tantrum.
I have a lot of Warburton, and Marty & Jan introductions; heavily influenced
by viewing at the Mass Medley Convention.
My garden was a backup garden at the 2000 HIPS convention in Syracuse N.Y.,
and so I managed to show several people historic siberians. Everybody should
grow some older varieties like ceasars brother, siberica, McEwen's pansy
purple or Carol Warner's shakers prayer. Their form and growth habits are
very good.
I'm retiring from work in another week and look forward to participating in
SIBROB.

My goodness, I skipped over this first letter of your--so see I am very late
with Congratulations. I realized you were nearing retirement. How is Ginny?
I have a good slide of both of you from Dallas and here it is almost time to
go to another AIS Convention. I had a marvelous time visiting New Zealand and
seeing many lovely gardens and they grow Siberians very well. Thanks for the
support. I guess I didn't pamper my plants so they do seem to be sturdy.
However there are a couple that do not seem to transplant well for some.
Wonder why? When they sometimes are sister seedlings. Anna Mae Miller,
Kalamazoo, MI
