I will change the Welcome message as you suggested, Shauna. I want to
emphasize that this is not just an arbitrary dictate (if you will) of
mine. John Jones, the owner of the iris-talk list (of which I am also
a member), has posted that photos are to be sent to the iris-photo
list housed at onelist, too. Just because some folks still post photo
attachments in spite of this rule doesn't make it correct.

You are right that some flower mailing lists DO accept and encourage
photos. One is the lilium-l of which I am a member (albeit an inactive
one). Since I am on a no-mail status they might have changed their
policy.

I have tried to make this list free of any restrictions like
required subject tags and feel that it is small enough (128) that
we can discuss virtually anything related to flowers. John has a
much headier job with the iris-talk list hovering at almost 400
and he has to inject some simple rules and even at that, people still
try to push the envelope since that is human nature. :)

Text attachments, for our purposes, are the same as photos. Folks have
gotten "stuck" on either the downloading of same or have been unable to
open them for whatever reason (platform, size, etc.).

We gave the iris-photo list at onelist for our purposes and I will post
the URL later today in a separate post.
