Re: Bloom season in Canada. BUDFLY

Good Morning Maureen and all,
I am new to the list (the other day) and have not had a chance to
intro. myself. The rainy weather in the Wiarton area has cut into
my gardening time drastically . With new HOLES in my garden,
left from the removal of all of my siberians I am panicking as I
watch the speed of growth of the plants yet to plant.
And that is why I am writing--the HOLES. For several years, all of
my siberians have suffered greatly and reduced in size. Thinking
that they just needed dividing, I merrily divided to conquer.
However, it became apparent that as the buds developed,
something either bored into the bud or drilled it's way out of the
bud, leaving a tattered and torn, very sad looking flower, and
gardener, I might add.
Could you please give me a little info on the budfly and the remedy,
if indeed there is one? When the plants were moved, we sulphured
the roots and the plants are now living in plastic bags and are in
isolation.
I am desperate to have these beloved iris back in their homes and
would greatly appreciate some guidance.
Thanks in advance,
Ronnalee, in bright and sunny Wiarton, Ontario 5a/5b
