{Disarmed} Re: Re favorite Siberian

Hi

Given that the Portland convention was the first chance I've ever had to see many, many Siberians, the thing that impressed me most was the diversity in form and size. I thought it was great. My "lust list" is very long.

One of the best things I like about Siberians and the 'Siberian Community' is that we are encouraged to hybridize, grow, and like the full range of flower form.  This was very evident at the SSI Convention. To me this is one of the most important strengths of the SSI and the direction it continues to take.  We only grow about 60 varieties of Siberians at present but visitors like different forms and at this time Shaker's Prayer and Strawberry Fair are the most popular in our garden.  These two are very different but both make such a wonderful garden show.  I believe we will succeed to meet the Societies objectives as long as we remember that we are here to produce plants for the garening public.
