RE: Time out

Hi Iris,

We have had good bloom but it has been an early spring and everything shot by quickly.  I believe that was because of the heat.  Yesterday the flowers in bloom at our scheduled open garden day were all late and repeat blooming Siberians.   We had five Japanese iris in bloom: 3 species, Lorena Reid’s Springtime Snow and Shin-seiki.  Thinking that folks would have the opportunity to see earlier blooming Siberians

we scheduled our open garden one week earlier than usual.  We were thankful to have done so.

It is a strange spring here in Maine.

Where are you located?  Is your weather typical this spring?  Perhaps your iris need dividing.  It certainly could be a possibility.

Does anyone else have the same problem as me.Some of my Siberians have been fantastic this year ,while others had no flower at all. They have all been treated with mulch earlier and  lots of TLC. Plenty of green leaves, but no flowers. The ones without flowers had good bloom last year ,so what's the problem. Are they taking time out for a rest and hopefully rebloom next year. Perhaps they need dividing.Any theories?
