Esther C.D.M. ???

From: "Carol Warner." <draycott@qis.net>

Jim,

There has been a lot of discussion on whether Esther C.D.M. and Gull's
Wing are the same plant. My Gull's Wing is the original sent out the year
of introduction (actually Clarence Mahan bought it and gave me a piece).
My Gull's Wing has narrow foliage and hardy grows at all. In the seven or
eight years that I have grown it I have had two flower stalks. The flowers
were white and the bloom was late. There wasn't talk of a comparison with
Esther at that time and since that article appeared I have not had another
bloom on my plants. My personal thoery is that plants of Esther C.D.M.
were substituted for the Gull's Wing at some time. My original plant of
Esther C.D.M. came from Anna Mae when she first introduced it. Esther
blooms every year, grows like a weed and is one of the most beautiful
siberians of all. I can't answer your question but I know that MY Gull's
Wing is NOT Esther C.D.M.
