I don't think that you understood my original posting. Some of it was tongue
in cheek.
I live in a border state and vast numbers of plants are sold here that are
raised in Canada. Sold in the pot just as propagated, not washed. Huge
numbers of packages of Dutch plants either bulbs washed of soil in the fall
or now in the spring, perennials packed in a mix of some kind are sold here,
Last spring I bought bletilla roots that were packaged in China. An
inspection of these is probably done or at least for some of the plants but
if an invisible virus is lurking .............
Individual importing of plants is done by keen gardeners who wish to have the
newest or the rarest.
