Re: Blind Caesar's Brother

Marty and Jan, Carlisle, MA, Zone 5, cold to cool for weeks

We had a large clump of White Swirl in an out of the way part of our old
garden. One year it seemed to be blooming a little light. When we looked at
it, we found 33 normal bloomstalks and 55 stalks about half the height of
normal ones and with the ends dried up. We don't know if it was it a late
frost or lack of fertility but it was strange. Later we transplanted White
Swirl and it did fine.

We are having another strange year. Seedlings marked last year as late
season are blooming with the early ones. Named siberians with flowers now
are Lavender Light, Pleasures of May, Lady Walpole, Festival Prelude, Carmen
Jeanne, and Sweet Surrender (which, exhibited at our show by someone else,
won best in section). Most of the typhifolias are done. Early seedlings
have been blooming for about a week.

Have a great season, Marty and Jan
