Hi Ellen, and Robins,
The SI's are doing well here in Virginia, zone 6/7. We have many in bud, and will bloom a few earlies next week. There are a few that are still very
small. They are all near tree roots, and we are in our 6th month of drought.
The most vigorous here are the following: CAESAR'S BROTHER,CORONATION ANTHEM, DEWFUL, EVER AGAIN, HIGH STANDARDS, SHOWDOWN, LAUGHING LION, ROARING
JELLY, SAPPHIRE ROYALE, SHAKERS PRAYER, and WHITE SWIRL. All of my seedlings with the above as parents seem to be vigorous too.
The wimps are: BUTTER AND SUGAR, SERENADE IN BLUE, SKY WINGS, LADY VANESSA, and a few seedlings that are light colors and not from WHITE SWIRL, but
from that famous parent LOST TAG. :)
I have one SI that is so early, vigorous and huge that it looks almost like JI or Psuedacorus foliage. It is SHOWDOWN, which is also very early. I
will try to give a midseason report if time allows. Jim
