Several hybrids can be adopted to very narrow interval of soil
character and in that case it is very difficult to manage. I have
tvice introduced some Ahlburg's yellows, but could not find in my
garden place where they could grow and all have died.* Another
A.M.Miller's "Frosted Cranbery" also was problematic with growing
place. Planted with others it was very week and I was afraid to lost
in winter. So I removed it to container and kept in my framed loggia.
In container it survived, but growth was not strong and only when I
planted in place of lost JI it began to grow well and this year after
some days the first flower will appear. The conclusion is that shorter
limits of soil PH are definited. My advice is if in one place sib.
grow week test PH and if it is to alkaline side remove to place with
prepared soil to little acid side and conversely.
*From other hand seedlings produced from Ahlburg hybrid seeds grow
well in any place in my garden.
