blooming siberians/bloom report

From: Andrew Wheeler <awheele2@abacus.bates.edu>

I went over to the garden of John and Evelyn White today to find the
standard dwarf beardeds in full bloom, a few of the earliest
intermediate beardeds open and... a two rows of siberian iris
seedlings. The blooming seedlings are from a couple selections of
Rodionenko from Russia. They are 28 c-some, mostly in blues and
lavenders... they miraculous part is that they are a full three weeks
earlier than the rest will be. I inspected several clumps of other
adjacent siberian seedlings and could find no evidence of buds yet, even
deep in the fans.... I will definately be grovelling for a couple of
them to breed with... the potential is amazing, I think.
