We also had a very dry late winter/early spring. The TBs absolutely loved
it. They have never looked better or performed as well. Because of the dry,
I started watering early, especially the Siberians. I also mulched early so
I think the Siberians were in good shape for water. I think the Siberians
are short this year. Maybe someone can tell from the photo I posted. Last
year the weather was wet, wet and wet all spring long. Siberians were short
then the same as this year. Although those were first year plants so making
an conclusion based on first year performance is questionable. I will have
Siberians in two different areas next year so could run somewhat of an
experiment with different watering practices. I know the raspberries and
blackberries really enjoyed the amount of water they received last year
versus my usual watering schedule.
