I have one seedling blooming from a LEMON CHESS X THORNBIRD cross.   It expresses smooth horns on each of the falls. I suspect LC has no space age irises in its background.

So, if my suspicion that LC has no spaceagers in its background is correct, how can SA horn expression be from more than a single dominent gene?

And, if I successfully cross THORNBIRD back to (LEMON CHESS x THORNBIRD) and a higher level of SA expression results in the progeny than in the SA parent would this not strongly infer a dosage effect? Or for that matter, were (LEMON CHESS x THORNBIRD) crossed back to any other SA iris and the resultant progeny had higher level expression than either of the SA parents would that not also strongly infer a dosage effect?
