Diana,
Good to hear from you ! I know the pain of trying to move an entire
Iris garden. My losses were huge when I moved 6 years ago, nothing
bloomed that year. The only bed I really took care of last year was
my seedling bed but once these bloom, I won't have seedling bloom for
a few years because I just didn't have the time last year to dig
gardens sow my seeds. I grew some Thornbird children for five years
before they decided to bloom. I guess you went through this in MN,
just like Laurie Frazer does now.
I have some historic Space Agers I got from Superstition two years
ago that should bloom this year. I'm also anxious to see Kalifa's
Horn, Gay Stripes and Tropical Butterfly again, they were quite
enchanting in person. Photos rarely do the old historics any justice.
Gay Stripes has been used by Donald to create some outrageous and
unusual seedlings. I hope to use it this Spring if the opportunity
arises.
Please don't hesitate to share any of your seedling data/photos when
they bloom. This place has been quiet to too long, I'm starting to
suffer from S.A.W. Space Age Withdrawal ;-)

AGAIN. Lost some weaker things last fall, others succumbed to the
winter, voles, etc. Still more now look like they are giving up after
the cold snap. I haven't made a list of the losses yet - I'm
procrastinating doing that unpleasant task.

others are hanging in there. My seedlings (seeds from 2003 crosses,
planted in 2005, '05 germinators were eaten by slugs (didn't get the
bait on quick enough), then I set the pots aside and forgot them, got
a handful of '06 germinators that survived life in pots/moving/lack
of water/too much water/general abuse/etc.) look wonderful! A couple
of them may even bloom... Got a couple of 'Time Traveler' kids by
various parents among them. :-)
