I've only found a few pods effected this year,
and none completely. 
 
Pretty much the same as my experience.  No pod was a total loss, (I think).  I think the mesh might need to go over the bloom before a pods develops, though.  My instincts based on my observations led me to believe the eggs were there before I daubed the pollen.  Some pods had worms without any sign of entry or exit on them, leading me to think the pod formed around eggs that were already in place.  Good thing the worms are bigger or there wouldn't have been any seeds to salvage.
