Mary Hess At Blue Haven for identification but she never got back to
me. I assume it didn't ring a bell. She apparently inherited much
of the old Austin cultivars from Mrs Austin and is still in the
process of identifying unknowns."
Thanks! It would be interesting if she had something to say about it,
but other than the proto-horn, it's a lot like a lot of other
historic lavender selfs, so I don't hold out a lot of hope for ID-ing
it.
On a brighter note, I fought with that CD yesterday, and with a lot
of patience and time, got my computer to read some of it and was able
to pull it off and dump it on my hard drive. So, I have my photos
back! Whew! I have attached it for everyone's viewing pleasure. ;o)
Chris asks:
"Do you have land Diana ? Are you willing to participate in SAGE?"
We're working on it. We're in an apt right now, but we're trying to
find a farm to buy ASAP. I want to keep my horse at home with me, and
I need room for my iris habit! We need to find something before long,
because all of my irises are in big laundry baskets and boxes waiting
for their new home. They won't be happy with me if I leave them in
there long. Many of them are already mad for having been dug up in
January!
Yes, I would LOVE to be involved in this experiment! I eat this stuff
up! (Hmmm, probably there's a reason my fiance calls me "The Plant
Dork." This isn't going to help my case any, huh?) ;o) I'll just
have to get the new beds ready FAST and get soil tests done and
whatever else is needed to meet the standardized growing conditions
we agree upon.
I'll keep reading the archives to get caught up. I'm on post 561...
Not sure which is taking longer - my dial-up internet connection, or
my brain trying to process all the discussion on genetics and
inheritance... LOL!
