Who can we ask?
I would think Keppel would be a good information source and his introductions more or less acoss the board good candidates.
His introductions as a group are a cut above most others in branching, bud count and modern bloom form. Too, there are a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from among them.
I expect he would have a pretty good feel for the level of spaceagers if any that have spontaneously appeared in any of their progeny.
Another candidate particularly for crossing with Honey Scoop would be Lanai (Ghio). It's also pretty easy to imagine some pretty wonderful things coming from its cross with Doctor No. The bloom has pink infusions that are hauntingly appealing. I have no idea what its predecessors are nor have I ever seen a photo that accurately captured the beauty of its bloom.
Unlike some, perhaps more knowledgeable hybridizers, I think color the least controllable outcome of cross pollination, particularly in the wide crosses we anticipate doing. It's easier for me to just like them all.
Lanai

We also need some amoena or nearly so candidates.
