I think probably it's not always determined by the
shelf. THORNBIRD spoons here tend to be the same as the falls; horns tend
to be the purple in the bloom. I think Mike Sutton once posted a photo of
one of their flounced seedlings that was a very large plicata patterned flounce
that matched the falls rather exactly if I remember correctly. Contrast that to
THOR'S LIGHTNING BOLT where the effect would be something very different.
Is the shelf membranous tissue that connects the beard to the fall?
