Has anyone tried germinating iris seed in peat pellets?

Not much luck. the peat may be too acidic. After leeching in the toilet tank I tried expanded peat pots as well as plastic baggies of peat in the refrigerator. Very poor results especially compared to the 89% of paper towels in black plastic burritos. Remember though, I live where the lawn needs mowing 52 weeks a year...
