Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] RE: germination

Thanks one in all for the input. There should be no inhibitiors left here. All these seed soaked since last fall. (5 months). Last year I forgot a bottle of 48 seed from Signa(lost 6 months). I found them and planted them. I got 27 seedlings from them six within a few days (lost to winter) 21 waited till spring. 15 of these survive. These were arilbred seed which had Sam Norris' name attached to them.. I wonder if that germination ratio is good it works out to something over 50% The current seed are mostly arilbred with some aril crosses and a couple of tall bearded crosses. The aril and arilbred like last season had lost their aril collar in their bath. They are presently planted in peat pellets inside.
Now I have more questions. How would acid effect them. I am to understand that iris can deal with or like acid. How important is light do they need it or not

If you can plant 100 seeds in a 8" pot 1 or 2 in a peat pellet would have plenty of room to germinate. The problem I see is keeping them damp. Letting them dry out would not be good. I have not tried it.
